This recipe was taken from an Easy French Food recipe web site! It makes a great entree but is also a good Vegetarian side dish.
Hints & Tips
- For a non-vegetarian version, chop 5 slices of bacon into 1 inch pieces and cook. Add to the onion mixture before adding to the eggs.

Ingredients
- 1 9 Inch Pie Shell
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 4 Eggs
- 1 cup Thick Cream
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tablespoons Plain Flour
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 4 tablespoons Butter
- 500 grams Onions, Chopped
- Pinch of Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Cook the onion in butter and olive oil for approximately 30 minutes until caramelised.
- Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring.
- Add the milk and cream and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add the nutmeg, salt and pepper.
- Stir in the onion and mix well.
- Pour into the pie shell and bake for 25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and then serve immediately.
